Email Settings - Server "Solo"
Updated January 18th, 2012
New Email Server and Purpose of This Page
For some of our clients that have experienced email issues, we have setup a new email server named "solo". If our tech team directed you to this web page, please use the instructions below to setup your email accounts so that you can access your email on this new server. If you were not asked to use these instructions, then please do not use these instructions. If you have any questions, call 888-432-7965.
Here are the new email settings for the email server "Solo":
- Usernames are now your entire email address, instead of just what is in front of the "@".
- Your POP3 and SMTP server settings should both be set to mail.yourdomain.com. (please don't use "outgoing" for the sending server, or an IP address).
- Passwords had to be reset to move your email accounts. Those will be provided to you by telephone by our support staff.
- Ports are 110 for pop3 and 25 for smtp (in Outlook, go to "more settings", then "advanced" to see the ports )
- In Outlook, look for the setting "My server requires SMTP authentication". Make sure that IS checked.
- In Outlook, look for the setting "Require Secure Password (SPA)". Make sure that is NOT checked.
New webmail address:
This is the new webmail address for this server: https://solo.delaware.net:2096
Enter your full email address as the username.
Enter email password. After logging in, you will then be given a choice of three new webmail systems. There is newer version of Horde in there, along with SquirrelMail and RoundQube. Also, there is an automatic configuration tool there that will automatically setup your outlook clients. We have not tested that yet, but CPanel claims that it will automatically configure email accounts on your outlook clients.
New Control Panel
This new server runs CPanel, which is like the Plesk control panel that you may have have used on our previous servers, only better.
Troubleshooting Details (for your network administrator)
1. Name Servers (important) - Make sure that your domain name registration has our new DNS servers listed. Do a whois lookup to check them. They should be the following:
ns1.dns.com
ns2.dns.com
ns3.dns.com
ns4.dns.com
If the name severs listed look like ns1.delaware.net or ns1.dns-logic.com your email will NOT WORK. You will need to login to the website of your domain name registration company (like godaddy, network solutions, opensrs, etc) to change those name server addresses. If the domain name was registered through our opensrs reseller account, we can help you do to this over the phone quickly.
2. Login Username - on our previous email servers that used the Plesk control panel, the login only required the email address username (what is in front of the "@"). On this new server, your username must be the user's ENTIRE EMAIL ADDRESS.
3. Your Local Network's DNS - To make sure that your network is "seeing" the new mail server, you should ping mail.yourdomain.com and get a response message showing the IP address of the new email server, which is 66.173.240.239. If it is any other IP address, then your network is not seeing the new IP address yet. This could be due to your ISP's DNS cache not expiring, which could take one hour to one day to resolve, or you have the wrong name servers listed on your domain name registration.
4. Postini MX Records - It is important to know if your company is paying for our Postini spam filtering service or not. Special DNS MX entries have to be made on our side to direct email to Postini.
5. On-Site Email Servers - If you operate an email server on your network, you will need to communicate with us to make sure that we have the proper MX records in our DNS.
